This website and its contact forms are not monitored 24/7 and are not intended for emergency use. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thinking about suicide, or in immediate danger, please do not wait for a response. Accessing this website, submitting a contact form, or scheduling an initial consultation does not establish a therapist-client relationship. A professional relationship is only formed after a formal intake process is completed and a clinical services agreement is signed by both parties.

Therapy is hard work and an individual’s, and a couple’s therapeutic outcome depends on the client’s desire, dedication, effort and motivation. A couple’s outcome is also determined by both individual’s willingness and desire to be in the relationship. There is no guarantee you will duplicate any of the results stated in the Stepping Up Counseling website. Major contraindications to positive outcome include anything that would block safe engagement between partners, for example: an ongoing affair, addiction or violence in the relationship, which is the responsibility of the clients, where a professional consultation, a follow best practice protocol and an appropriate referral is made.

Confidentiality & Special Concerns
Information disclosed in session is confidential and may not be disclosed to anyone without written permission from you, the client. However, law requires the following exceptions to client confidentiality: Where there is suspicion or evidence of child or elder abuse. Also, there is reasonable suspicion that the client presents danger to self or others, or when a court orders.
Cancellation, Re-Schedule Policy
When an appointment is scheduled, that time is reserved for the client. Stepping Up Counseling requires a full 48-hour notice for cancellations or reschedules of standard weekly sessions. If you choose, for any reason, not to attend your session or choose to reschedule an appointment without providing 48 hours advance notice, your full fee will be charged unless this involves a life-threatening emergency.
